Custodial and Building Maintenance Technician

Team JAS is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Custodial and Building Maintenance Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the upkeep, cleanliness, safety, and functionality of our facilities. Your daily responsibilities will include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, disinfecting surfaces, restocking supplies, and cleaning restrooms, break rooms, and common areas. You will also be responsible for removing trash, maintaining floors, and addressing any immediate cleaning needs to ensure a sanitary environment.

In addition to custodial duties, you will perform routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections to keep our operations running smoothly. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general building maintenance, along with a proactive approach to problem-solving. Description:
The Maintenance & Facilities Technician will ensure the smooth operation and upkeep of the Team JAS 33,000 sq ft facility. Primary duties will include performing routine maintenance tasks, responding to repair requests, and identifying potential issues to prevent disruptions in our operations. The Maintenance Technician will be crucial in maintaining a safe, clean, and functional environment for our employees and visitors.

Primary Responsibilities:

Facility Cleanliness & Upkeep:

• Maintain the cleanliness of the facility, including common areas, restrooms, break rooms, and outdoor spaces. Perform daily cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and disinfecting high-touch surfaces. Ensure restrooms are stocked, trash is emptied, and outdoor areas are kept clean and safe.

​​​​​​​General Maintenance Tasks:

• Plumbing: Fix leaks, unclog drains, and repair plumbing fixtures.
• Electrical: Replace light bulbs, sockets, and switches, troubleshoot electrical issues, and ensure the functionality of lighting systems.
• HVAC: Replace filters, clean coils, calibrate thermostats, and maintain HVAC systems.
• Carpentry: Repair doors, windows, furniture, and partitions as needed.
• Painting: Paint walls, ceilings, and other surfaces to maintain a fresh appearance.

Maintenance Requests & Preventive Care:

• Respond promptly to maintenance requests from employees or management and address issues in a timely manner.
• Perform preventive maintenance tasks, including lubricating moving parts, inspecting machinery, and servicing equipment as per manufacturer recommendations

Record-Keeping & Reporting:

• Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment maintenance logs, and inventory of supplies.
• Monitor and report on the condition of equipment and facilities, identifying areas for improvement or repair.

Collaboration & Safety:

• ​​​​​​​Collaborate with other departments to coordinate maintenance activities and address facility-related concerns.
• Follow safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.

Special Projects & Events:

• Assist with special projects, renovations, or facility upgrades as needed.
• Conduct routine inspections to identify maintenance needs and ensure all areas are well-maintained.
• ​​​​​​​Assist with the setup and breakdown of equipment for events and meetings.

Daily Duties:

• Empty trash cans in all designated areas.
• Thoroughly clean and sanitize meeting rooms, kitchens, offices, and restrooms.
• Ensure kitchen areas remain clean, with all appliances functioning properly.
• Inspect furniture and appliances for issues, reporting or addressing minor repairs.
• Perform routine maintenance and make minor repairs as needed.
• Conduct regular inspections of AC units, sprinkler systems, and building exteriors to identify and report issues.
• ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Assist with managing deliveries and transporting items using the company truck as required.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience in facilities maintenance or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of basic repair and maintenance techniques for plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry.
• Prolonged periods of standing
• Lifting 40+ lbs
• Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose maintenance issues effectively.
• Good communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with employees and vendors.
• Physically fit and able to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
• Availability to respond to maintenance emergencies outside of regular business hours.
• Familiarity with safety protocols and regulations related to facilities maintenance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Vocational or technical training in facilities maintenance or a relevant field.
• Certification in plumbing, electrical work, or HVAC systems.
• Previous experience working in a commercial or industrial facility.

Their strong technical knowledge, combined with effective communication and organizational skills, allows them to prioritize tasks efficiently and maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities.

The ideal candidate is also physically capable of handling the demands of the job, including lifting heavy objects, climbing ladders, and performing manual tasks. They are safety-conscious, familiar with regulations and best practices, and prepared to respond to maintenance emergencies as needed.
